We are happy to announce that former Campinas PhD student and post-doc researcher Daniel Macedo has been hired as an Assistant Professor for Applied Geophysics (Seismic Methods) at Federal University of Pará (UFPA) in Belém, Brazil, starting in August 2015. In his new role, he will continue to make part of the WIT team.

As of July 1st, the Applied Geophysics Group at KIT proudly participates in the DFG-funded collaborative research centre (CRC) 1173, "Wave phenomena: analysis and numerics." This CRC brings together 16 principal investigators from analysis and numerics of the KIT Department of Mathematics. Another four Pis are from optics and photonics, biomedical engineering, and applied geophysics work and work on the interfaces to applications.
